Make Your Brain Stronger!!

“The mind is just like a muscle – the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets and the more it can expand.” ― Idowu Koyenikan
By Greg Thurston, creator of Seven Minute Mindfulness
In 2006, a group of 20 people joined a study at the Massachusetts General Hospital to research the effect of mindfulness on the human brain.
What they found was that mindfulness can influence the very structure of a person’s mind, particularly the prefrontal cortex.
This region is responsible for certain aspects of our thinking, such as awareness, concentration and decision-making.
As a result, a thicker cortex means a better ability to handle stress and significantly reduce its damaging effects on the brain.
And this is just one of many benefits we can get from mindfulness. There are many other ways the brain can strengthen itself, but first let’s dive a little bit into what this “habit” is exactly.
Strength In Awareness
Mindfulness, or the art of unplugging from past or future thoughts, has made its way to modern society over the decades.
In a nutshell, this is simply observing the things unfolding at the present moment – or being “mindful” of them – without making any judgments.
The sensation in your breath, the tightness in your chest from stress, the weight of your legs against the floor – all of these are neither right nor wrong. It is what is, and nothing more.
Julie, a 42-year-old sales manager for large multinational corporation felt the stress of her job wearing her down. “I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel anymore,” she complained.
Julie says negative thoughts constantly invaded her mind and she started getting sick every one to two weeks. Thanks to practicing mindfulness however, she managed to take control of her happiness and turned the tide against chronic stress.
“I had a better grip on my feelings, ate better, slept more peacefully and had a better perspective on life in general. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me”, Julie shared.
Her case is one of thousands who’ve massively benefitted from this habit. If you’ve been having trouble dealing with stressful thoughts and can’t seem to shake off a negative vibe, you should consider getting into this habit today.
Here are the other ways mindfulness can get your mind in the best shape it’s ever been:
#1: Mindfulness gives you mental strength

According to a 2012 study called “Mindfulness meditation-related pain relief: Evidence for unique brain mechanisms in the regulation of pain”, practicing mindfulness improves the way people process unpleasant stimuli.
Certain regions in the brain are involved in processing pain for example, the prefrontal and anterior cingulate cortex, are less connected than those who don’t practice mindfulness.
In short, this means that if you’re adept at being mindful, the less worked up you’ll get over the feeling of pain. Your brain will be better wired to not treat the experience as worse than it actually is.

#2: Mindfulness makes you grittier
Ever notice how some people can’t keep it together when life gets hard? You might notice how dramatic they get, or how they lash out at people around them when the world isn’t treating them fairly.
It turns out that there’s a good reason why people act like that.
Another region in the brain called the anterior cingulate cortex is in charge of helping you get your act together when crisis hits.
This area has a great deal of control over your behavior, specifically how you react to difficult circumstances.
Those with a better developed ACC is more likely to respond in a calm, calculated manner rather than impulsively reacting – like having an adult-sized tantrum, for instance. And people that use mindfulness as a way to deal with life’s up and downs have a better developed ACC than others.
Also, it’s important to note that mindfulness is linked to a more robust hippocampus, which is the region responsible for regulating your emotions. It’s safe to say that if you want to make it through life with less drama, you’ll want to work on this area, too.
Practicing mindfulness trains your brain to make better decisions when you’re between a rock and a hard place, so to speak.
It’s certainly challenging to muster the clarity to make the right choices in tough situations – and it seems that improving your brain can even your odds in a big way.
#3: Mindfulness fights destructive behaviors
The problem with stress is that it drives people to cope in unhealthy ways. This often includes addictive behaviors, which includes gambling, drug abuse or self-harm. These are some of the ways the mind tries to find relief from a difficult life.
With mindfulness however, people can more easily avoid getting caught in a downward spiral of addiction and self-destruction.
The University of Texas has a center dedicated to the study of addictive behavior (substance abuse in particular), and they’ve found that mindfulness is a powerful tool in fighting it.
People who practice this habit can better help themselves get out of their state of denial (causing them to indulge in bad behaviors) and peacefully accept their situation instead.
The act of being in the present moment is an effective way to develop awareness and helps people make better choices as opposed to reckless (or even life-threatening) ones.
#4 Mindfulness and the Law Of Attraction
The mind is one of the most powerful tools you could ever have in your life. That’s why it makes sense to keep it running in excellent condition as best you can.
But did you know that mindfulness – and by extension, your mind – also has the power to manifest the reality you want?
John Kehoe, author of “Mind Power” once said, “Thoughts are REAL forces.”
He believes that the mind and quality of your thoughts can shape your life to the point where you can either live a happy, successful and prosperous life…
…or suffer a mediocre existence filled with failure.
I didn’t believe it was possible not too long ago – until I made a small change in my life just recently.
Brain training such as affirmations and visualisation train your brain to think a certain way, and thus adjust your life circumstances to suit.
Just like a tennis player trains his arms to “naturally” swing his arm in perfect line, you can train your thought processes to think in a way that moves you towards your goals and desires.
When you start thinking of the brain as a muscle that is trainable, remarkable things can happen.
#5: Mindfulness Keeps Your Brain From Getting Older

As people age, it’s not just their bodies that get old. At a cellular level, the brain degenerates and shrinks as with diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Researchers from UCLA found that mindfulness could have a significant role to prevent the mind from aging.
Their study in 2015 noted the effects of the habit, such as “beneficial effects for a number of cognitive domains, including attention, memory, verbal fluency, executive function, processing speed, overall cognitive flexibility as well as conflict monitoring and even creativity.”
What all of this adds up to is that the benefits of mindfulness combat the effects of brain aging and keep it in better condition over the decades.
This habit promotes the growth of grey matter – brain tissue stays healthier for a longer time than compared to those who don’t.
To summarize, the brain is a remarkable and complex muscle, and like any muscle, it responds to stress, relaxation, and training.
Today it is well evidenced that brain health is directly connected to a myriad of diseases, behaviors, and life outcomes. By working to increase brain strength through mindfulness, you’re investing in your future self in the most remarkable way.

I often use them on my lunch breaks to help lessen the stress headaches and promote calmness.
After my session with my forks I am ready to tackle my projects with more focus and patience.
Right now we are having smoke from the wildfires pollute the air. this is giving me sinus headaches. I am able to use my tuning forks to help relive not only the pressure but the throbbing pain behind my eyes.
I have noticed that when I use my forks my healing intuitions is heightened. I can get more detailed information on what is going on with a client from age of trauma, to why there is a problem.
We hall have our specialties, and mine has always been energy and sound healing. The beauty of it is that it comes in many different forms from singing bowls, drums, singing, music, frequencies like binaural beats and the possibilities are just endless.
What is your favorite form of sound healing?
Have a beautiful day and stay safe.

There seems to always be this feeling of dread and doom whenever we talk boundaries. Anytime I bring the word up people shudder with a feeling of yuck. Why is that do you think?
One of my favorite things is creating new boundaries. It is the only way I get anything done.
Having boundaries in our life gives us control of how we live our life, they help us show others how we are to be treated and our children learn to develop their own by watching us assert ours.
Since this is my birthday month, I want us to take a look at how boundaries in a new happy light. Think of happy boundaries you may have. Example I get to spend quality time with my son on Saturday mornings because I gave myself the boundary of not working on Saturdays!
We take a walk on the beach and go to the farmers market before anyone one in the house is up and about.
What are some of the boundaries that make you smile?
How can you make light of the ones you have?
Share with me so I can share your joy!
Much Love,
Sandi

Every time I tell people what I do I see their eyes glaze looking confused lol. Let me explain a little about how I help your body heal itself.
Sound and Vibrational Energy Healing, uses frequencies to help the body heal itself.
Imagine a hard lump of brown sugar. If you take the sugar and you place it on a vibrating table the frequencies and vibrations start to break the lump up.
That is how it works with sound and frequency healing. We break up blockages to get things flowing again to allow your body to heal itself.
What type of ailments can we heal?
- Migraine and Headaches

I love Spring! It is all about birth and fertility, and grounding (hence the bunnies and eggs) .
I love to use this time to plant our goals like seeds and nurture and tend to the goals I am working towards.
Spring cleaning is no joke in my house. I love to purge and refresh my home and energies.
I have recently cleaned out my linen closet and that was terrifying lol.
Celebrate your space and home. Clean out what no longer serves you which can be anything from a cluttered closet, detoxing your gut, or clearing stagnant blockages from your energy.
Celebrate your fresh space by cleansing the air, add fresh spring flowers, remove clutter and let the sun in.
Add bright colors for a cheerful and happy addition and make the space feel airy and bright.
Play in the dirt as much as possible. Go for walks and breathe in fresh air.
This season is so rewarding and fruitful.
Let's make it work for us!

Everyone has some kind of experience when they receive sound healing. Some see visions, some people feel emotions, some feel it in their bodies, and some see colors.
Yesterday I got to talk to some ladies at our sound bath about their experiences and one topic that came up was the colors they saw. I always get a kick out of what other people experience, so I ask what it was like for them.
One woman saw all the colors of the frequencies that I was focusing on that day. Another saw them too and had some other visions.
It may seem bizarre that you would see colors, but let's not forget that sound is light waves stretched out, so if I play a specific frequency and your body is in tune the chances of you seeing that frequency's color, is good.
Not everyone has this experience, but it is not uncommon.
Sound healing and vibrational healing is actually pretty scientific. It may sound made-up, but I assure you it's all connected.
Holistic therapies have been around longer than modern medicine and while I have much respect for modern medicine, not every ailment needs to be medicated.
Stress for example is a great ailment to be cured with holistic healing methods. Learning to connect with your body, mind and spirit, helps identify the root cause of the stress and can help your body begin to heal itself.
We know stress causes many problems within the body, so it is very important to treat it when you can and take self-care seriously making it a part of your regular health care routine.
Some great stress relief options are:
- Yoga
- Meditation
- Massage
- Sound Healing
- Reiki
- Mindfulness
- Tai Chi
- and many more
Try a few out and see how they work for you. There are so many wonderful and different experiences to be had, and there is definitely a holistic modality for everyone.
If you are interested in learning more about some great healing services, check us out!
I would love to hear from you!

So yesterday I was looking at a post from last year it got me thinking about the time I stepped out of living in fear, to living true to myself and who I am.
I started helping people over 20 years ago, attain the tools they needed to live the life they deserve, and the foundations to living true and authentically are habits and boundaries.
When we put healthy habits into place, we are helping ourselves be better versions of ourselves. When we input healthy boundaries, we are making sure others honor who we are.
The truth is that we create our lives and the level of involvement we choose to have in control of our lives. if our life is lacking, there is an imbalance and it needs to be addressed and worked through.
Goal setting helps get us to where we want to be and helps us strive to achieve. It gives us drive and motivation to live the life we dream and deserve. Goals are the end result to manifest into reality, it's getting there that is the journey.
If you are a Liminal Soul, a soul in limbo trying to make the next move, then you are not alone.
At every growing point in life we find ourselves stuck trying to figure out what's next. it's hard to determine because we are navigating into uncharted waters. It can be hard to be motivated and can be overwhelming trying to even know where to start.
Our Awakening Authenticity group is a community built just for this purpose. With options to choose from, you can be in control of your journey with the help and guidance and tools. You get to choose your level of involvement within the community.
Enjoy benefits such as free healing sessions, discounted courses and events, weekly guided lessons and more.
if you are ready to take your journey to the next level, check us out. We would love to meet you.
Much love,
Sandi

In order to reach goals and successfully manifest the life we want, there has to be boundaries.
In our Spiritual Warriors group, we learn how to create healthy habits and assert healthy boundaries to attain our goals and live the life we deserve.
That group is lucky enough to have a constant reminder and a perk of weekly guidance to help them along their path.
When you Imagine your dream life, is it close to the life you live now?
What is different? Is it a location, money or career change?
Is it a change of how you approach life and an attitude change?
Is it that you have lack of motivation or feel overwhelmed thinking about the next step?
If you could make one small change starting today, to help get you closer to your dream life, what would that be?
Start small and create small ripples. Eventually those ripples will create waves of change.
Take some time out of your day and contemplate these questions and maybe journal and brainstorm your answers and see where they lead you.
If you are interested in joining our Spiritual Warriors Group, Please head over and check us out. You are never alone when you are with us!
Much Love,
Sandi

Exciting week especially for Love Day. Venus and Neptune are conjoining which is going to make us all weak in the knees and maybe a little in LALA Land.
Enjoy the bliss, but make sure to stay a little grounded too. Get together with some close friends and get creative. Take a class together or make a day out of it and do a brunch and healing session.
On important thing to remember is to take a little time for yourself and practice some self-love and care.
Self -care is more than a healing session or a nice bath, it can be a nourishing meal or even creating a space for yourself that you can feel inspired in.

This Saturday is the New Moon in Aquarius. I just love new moons! If you didn't know that about me you do now and it is a constant excitement for me every month.
Why do they excite me?
New Moons bring new beginnings and the end of things that no longer serve. We get to manifest our realities and make goals for the upcoming Lunar cycle.
This is perfect if you are like me and need to make their goals in small portions. I want to achieve big but break it down and lets tackle it little by little.
The New Moon in Aquarius brings on this feeling of reform and spirituality. We feel spiritual awakenings and are able to start to see the necessary changes that need to happen to break up destructive behaviors.
It is also a time that toxic traits and things that are hindering growth will present themselves.
It is important to keep watch of our emotions and mind our words, as we are manifesting.
The next two weeks are going to carry this energy and it is important to take self-care seriously. Since things may get shaken up, take time to center and ground yourself.
Go receive a healing session and help remove what no longer serves that you.
Meditate and relax as much as possible.
Keep mindful and lead with grace.
Much Love,
Sandi

Today’s Episode
I want to share my podcast from today. I have been working on my self-development and growth. One of the things I do is read and journal thoughts from what I read.
Today's podcast talks about perfectionism and the mindset behind it.
Spiritual Warriors Members, this is a great podcast to listen to since we are working on goals.
Have a great week.
Much love
Sandi

Today I did a podcast on mindfulness and slowing down our lives. I was thinking about what the beginning of the new year usually stands for and what we are working on in our Spiritual Warriors membership group. The beginning of a new year usually symbolizes change and growth. We look forward to setting goals and "making it the best year ever!"
But we tend to forget that when we push ourselves to hard to quick we set ourselves up for failure. Start slow and make small adjustments to attain big change.
Winter months are here to help us live life a little slower and really become mindful of what we are doing and what we have in our lives. Get cozy and slow down. We can't continue at a crazy pace and not burn out so take some time and breathe.
Work on yourself and develop a healthy self-care routine.
In our Spiritual Warriors group we are working on goal setting to attain success. We learned how to make healthy habits stick and how setting healthy boundaries helps us keep on track. Now we will be focusing on tending to our goals. Monthly healing sessions will help us remain calm and on track and out community and coaching sessions provide support so you are never doing it alone!
Enjoy today for today. Slow down and find the special moments in the little things.
Much Love,
Sandi
