When Your Voice and Power Feel Stuck: How Solar Plexus and Throat Imbalances Can Show Up in Real Life
Have you ever known exactly what you wanted to say—but somehow couldn't say it?
Or maybe you've had the opposite experience.
You've explained yourself. Repeated yourself. Sent the long text. Had the conversation three different ways.
And somehow...
You still don't feel heard.
Perhaps you've experienced persistent self-doubt, difficulty making decisions, butterflies or tension in your stomach, or the feeling that you need everyone else's approval before trusting yourself.
From an energetic perspective, these experiences can sometimes be explored through the relationship between the solar plexus and throat centers.
This isn't about diagnosing every stomach ache as an energetic blockage or assuming every communication problem is caused by a chakra imbalance.
Our physical, emotional, and energetic experiences are complex.
But sometimes, looking at our patterns through another lens helps us begin asking better questions.
The Solar Plexus: Your Relationship With Personal Power
The solar plexus is often associated with identity, confidence, boundaries, decision-making, and our sense of personal agency.
In everyday life, imbalance or stagnation in this area may look like:
- Constantly second-guessing yourself
- Needing reassurance before making decisions
- Difficulty trusting your instincts
- Overthinking everything
- People-pleasing
- Difficulty setting boundaries
- Feeling powerless in situations where you actually have choices
- Holding tension or discomfort in the stomach area
You may know what you want.
But trusting yourself enough to act on it can feel like an entirely different challenge.
This is where many people become trapped in the cycle of asking:
“But what if I'm wrong?”
So they wait.
They overanalyze.
They ask five different people for their opinions.
And eventually, they become even more disconnected from their own internal knowing.
The Throat: More Than Simply Finding Your Voice
When people hear “throat chakra,” they often think about speaking up.
But communication is more nuanced than simply talking more.
A throat imbalance can sometimes look like silence.
But it can also look like overcommunication.
You may find yourself:
- Explaining yourself repeatedly
- Talking in circles because you don't feel understood
- Sending long messages trying to make sure everyone understands your intentions
- Over-sharing because silence feels uncomfortable
- Rehearsing conversations before they happen
- Struggling to say what you actually mean
- Saying “yes” when you want to say “no”
- Feeling unheard, even when you've said everything
Sometimes the problem isn't that you don't have a voice.
Sometimes it's that you've learned you have to work incredibly hard to be heard.
And that can be exhausting.
When the Solar Plexus and Throat Become Entangled
These two areas often create a powerful pattern together.
You don't trust yourself...
So you struggle to communicate clearly.
Then you worry that you communicated incorrectly...
So you explain yourself again.
You question whether you were understood...
So you add more words.
Someone misunderstands you...
And suddenly you're questioning yourself all over again.
It can become a loop:
Self-doubt → overthinking → overexplaining → feeling unheard → more self-doubt.
Does that sound familiar?
The issue isn't necessarily that you need to become louder.
You may not need more confidence in the traditional sense either.
Sometimes what is needed is space to reconnect with yourself.
To notice what happens in your body before you automatically react.
To recognize when your nervous system is activated.
To learn the difference between communicating for connection and communicating from survival.
Your Nervous System May Be Part of the Conversation
This is where the energetic and physiological perspectives can meet.
When we don't feel safe being misunderstood, rejected, criticized, or dismissed, our nervous system can become activated.
And when we're activated, communication changes.
We may freeze and say nothing.
We may fawn and say what others want to hear.
We may fight to be understood.
We may overexplain because some part of us believes that if we can just find the right words, we can finally create safety.
But regulation creates something different.
It creates a pause.
And inside that pause, we have choices.
We can ask:
What do I actually want to say?
Do I need to explain myself right now?
Am I communicating—or am I trying to convince someone to understand me?
Can I trust myself even if someone disagrees with me?
These questions can become powerful doorways back to yourself.
You Don't Have to Fix Yourself
I want to be clear:
You are not broken because you struggle with confidence.
You aren't failing because communication feels difficult.
And your body isn't betraying you when it communicates stress.
Your patterns developed for reasons.
At some point, they may have helped you navigate the world.
But patterns that once protected us can eventually become exhausting.
Awareness is where change begins.
Not judgment.
Not forcing.
Not trying to become a different person.
Just becoming curious enough to notice:
Where am I holding back?
Where am I pushing too hard?
Where have I stopped trusting myself?
And perhaps most importantly:
What might change if I learned how to feel safe enough to come back to myself?
Calm the Chaos: A Place to Begin
This is part of the work we explore inside Calm the Chaos.
Not forcing yourself to “think positive.”
Not pretending stress doesn't exist.
And not trying to become perfectly regulated.
Instead, we begin understanding the relationship between your body, your patterns, your responses, and the tools that can help you create more awareness and capacity.
Because sometimes the chaos isn't happening because you aren't trying hard enough.
Sometimes you've simply been trying to navigate everything without understanding what your system has been communicating.
Calm the Chaos is an invitation to pause, listen, and begin building a different relationship with yourself.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You don't have to be completely burned out.
You can begin exactly where you are.
